Falcon House, Cragsmoor, NYBorn in 1868, Carroll Butler Brown was seriously injured during a shooting accident as a child which left him paralyzed. The remainder of his life was spent confined to a wheelchair. His mother encouraged him to learn to paint where he showed definite ability.

He first came toCragsmoor during the summer of 1910 where he met members of the local artist community who embraced him into the group. They met at various homes of the artists for animated discussions about art.

With the aid of an attendant and a horse and carriage he was transported to his choice of scenic views of the mountainside where he captured the landscapes on canvas for which he became well known.

He had a house built which he named Falcon House but was only able to enjoy four summers before he died in the house in 1923. No one is quite sure how he died. After his death, his mother inherited the house which remained in the family until 1934.

There have been many instances of unexplained activity in the home since then.
